OK, so nobody asked me these questions. I'll get the boring ones out of the way.
1. How did "The Adventures of Pathos & Bathos" arise?
One
day I said to myself "Hey, I think I'd like to give Online Comics a
shot". So I did. But it took months before an idea came to me. First
came the name. Then came the idea of using the masks of Tragedy and
Comedy as characters. Then came months of discouragement because my
attempts to draw the characters were pathetic. Then came the format and
lastly the "jokes".
*Bonus Trivia!*: Episode IV was the first one I thought up.
2. How much of it is actually drawn?
Very little. The only thing I drew was one body. The masks were found on Google Image Search and
were slightly bastardized. I still might tweak the bodies a bit, but
for now they suit my needs. It's all put together on Microsoft
Paint, the crappiest art program known to man!
3. What's with the background images?
I plunder Google Image Search.
It's the web equivalent of word association. I absolutely love it and
derive hours of entertainment from it. A few of the backgrounds are my
own photos. I envision Pathos & Bathos as living in a kind of
Limbo, in a state of being everywhere and nowhere at once. Sometimes
the images are random, sometimes they tie in with the dialogue. I do
not deliberately steal images of a personal nature, such as artwork,
artistic photography or images obviously subject to copyright. I try to keep it as "stock" as I can. Besides, my
attempts to draw actual backgrounds would be pretty terrible and quite
time consuming.
4. Why don't you update more often?
Because I don't want to adhere to a schedule and pump out weak or
half-assed comics. I'd rather go at my own pace and put out comics I'm
happy with. On average, I try to shoot for once a week. Since the first
strip (8/23/05), I've exceeded that average. So SHUT IT!
5. You are a resentful, perverted, misogynistic little man.
I'm not a Misogynist, I'm a Misanthropist. And that's not a question.
